Fifty (50) members of the House of Representatives of the Republic of the Philippines principally authored the proposed House Resolution No. 909, entitled “A Resolution Calling for the Immediate Cessation Of Hostilities, the Pursuit of Peaceful Dialogue, and the Protection of Civilians amid Escalating Military Aggression in Iran, and Expressing Concern over the Global Economic Impacts of War, including Escalating Oil Prices.”

Led by House Assistant Minority Leader and Kabataan Party-list (Youth Party) Representative Atty. Renee Co and the Makabayan Bloc, the 50 Representatives recognize the acts of military aggression initiated by the United States and Israel against Iran last February 28, 2026 — and intensifying by the day — not only disproportionately affect innocent civilians, but have also contributed to sharp increases in global oil prices, which in turn lead to rising fuel costs, transportation fares, electricity prices, and the overall cost of basic goods and services.

“The international community has a shared responsibility to prevent further escalation of violence and to pursue negotiations and peaceful solutions to conflicts. The Philippines, as part of the international community, must uphold diplomacy, dialogue, and international cooperation as essential pillars of global peace and stability,” the Resolution provides.

“We resolve that the House of Representatives of the Republic of the Philippines must call for the immediate cessation of hostilities in Iran, particularly an end to the military aggression instigated by the United States of America and Israel, in order to prevent further loss of life and humanitarian suffering,” the Resolution adds.

“We urge all parties involved in ongoing conflicts to prioritize diplomacy, negotiations, and peaceful dialogue as the primary means of resolving disputes. We call on relevant Philippine government agencies to take appropriate measures to cushion Filipino consumers, public transport workers, farmers, and other affected sectors from the impact of rising oil prices,” the Resolution ends. ###
